Headshots & Hatshots - A Charity Photoshoot for Brain Tumour Research
Professional Headshots for “Wear A Hat Day”, 27th March 2026
Friday 27th March is Wear A Hat Day, a day dedicated to raising money for Brain Tumour Research.
I’ll be running a special fundraising event at the Town Hall in the centre of Leamington Spa. I’m calling it Headshot & Hatshots — a day-long photoshoot where people can book a headshot mini-session in exchange for a donation to Brain Tumour Research (recommended £25, minimum £10).
I’m hoping to help raise funds and awareness for a cause that means a great deal to me.
Why Brain Tumour Research?
Brain tumours can be extremely hard to treat. Their effects are devastating, and they account for the most cancer-related deaths for children and adults under the age of 40. Yet the condition receives just 1% of the national cancer research spend.
Sadly, my own family has been affected by brain stem cancer twice, losing both my stepsister and my uncle to the disease. My heart goes out to anyone who has lived through this kind of loss - I don’t like to humanise something like cancer, but it’s hard not to think of brain tumours as being particularly cruel.
Fortunately, there are talented researchers and surgeons fighting back, finding new treatments and identifying ways to detect the disease earlier. I wanted to do find a way to help, too; something that uses the skills I have to support the work this amazing charity is doing.
Wear A Hat Day is one of Brain Tumour Research’s main fundraising events, and it brings together thousands of people across the UK in a fun, visual, and meaningful way. Offering a headshot session in return for donations to the charity felt true to what I do every day: helping people look their best in front of the camera.
I’m hoping to raise at least £275 - this is approximately 10% of the daily cost of running one of the charity’s research centres.
What is “Headshot & Hatshots”?
It’s a chance to get a professional headshot, in return for a donation to Brain Tumour Research. A hatshot is the Wear A Hat Day-inspired twist where you’ll grab a hat for an informal portrait and show your support for the cause. It’s a fun, relaxed way to finish off the headshot mini-session.
How Does it Work?
Here’s the general idea:
You use the TicketSource link to book a convenient 20‑minute headshot session on 27th March 2026.
You make a donation to Brain Tumour Research via my JustGiving page. I’m asking for a minimum donation of £10, and suggesting £25 for those who can afford it. If you’d like to give more than that, you are of course very welcome. You can donate at the time of booking your slot, or do it on the day. I’ll have a QR code you can scan on your mobile that’ll take you to the JustGiving page.
On the day, you arrive at the Town Hall at your allotted time.
We’ll work together to create a headshot you’re really pleased with. You won’t need to choose your favourite there and then; you’ll be able to make your final selection from an online gallery in your own time.
And then — in the spirit of Wear A Hat Day — we finish with a fun, relaxed Hatshot. I’ll have a selection of hats available, but you’re more than welcome to bring your own.
A few days after the event, I’ll send you your edited headshot, which you’ll be free to use on your website, LinkedIn, marketing materials, etc.
The Hatshot is optional, but highly encouraged. It’s a light‑hearted way to show support for the charity and, with your permission, I’ll be sharing these informal portraits on social media to help raise awareness throughout the day.
Headshots and Charity - What’s the Connection?
Getting an up-to-date headshot is something many people mean to do but never quite get around to. They’re too busy to fit it in, or they’re not sure where to go, or they feel awkward in front of the camera. I’m hoping this charity event helps make it a hundred times easier. Doing it this way combines:
A chance to update or upgrade your online image
A way to support an important cause while still saving money compared to a standard headshot session
A fun experience, rather than a chore
A way to play a part in a national campaign to raise awareness of Brain Tumour Research and their work
Please note: I’m not taking any payment for the sessions or editing time. 100% of every donation goes directly to Brain Tumour Research.
Who is this aimed at?
Headshots & Hatshots is ideal for:
Local professionals
Small business owners
Consultants and coaches
Anyone who needs a fresh, professional portrait
Anyone who wants to support Brain Tumour Research
If updating your headshot has been on your list for a while, this is the perfect opportunity.
How Do I Book?
There are 15 slots available throughout the day. Each one is scheduled to last 20 minutes. Booking is done through TicketSource, via the button below:
Once you’ve booked, you’ll receive a confirmation email with all the details of where to go and how to donate.
If you’d like to make a donation but do not want to take part in Headshots & Hatshots, you can do so directly on my JustGiving page. Every penny you give goes directly to Brain Tumour Research.
Thank you
Whether you book a session, share this post, or simply help spread the word, I’m incredibly grateful. Every donation helps fund vital research and brings us closer to better treatments and outcomes for people affected by brain tumours.
I’m looking forward to seeing you - and your hats - on the 27th!
